Stuttgart (dpa / lsw) - In order to save gas, youth associations in Baden-Württemberg are in favor of lower room temperatures in schools. In classrooms, the lower temperature limit should be lowered from 20 to initially 19 degrees, demanded young people from Schwäbisch-Gmünd and received support from the umbrella organization of youth councils and the state school council on Wednesday.
"The students in Baden-Württemberg are ready to make their contribution," said the spokeswoman for the state student council, Jette Wagler. The Ministry of Education must now take action here. So far, the ministry had referred to the workplace ordinance and the requirements of the statutory accident insurance. Accordingly, a temperature of 20 degrees is provided, which can be fallen below when airing.
However, the young people do not accept a reference to this, as the student council made clear: in the past two Corona winters, the students had frozen significantly more due to the constant forced ventilation than would have been the case if the room temperature had been reduced by one degree, it was said.
