Bavaria: 70-year-old seriously injured in a fall from an e-bike

Hammelburg (dpa / lby) - A 70-year-old fell off his e-bike in Lower Franconia and injured himself so badly that he had to be flown to the hospital in a rescue helicopter. The police suspect that the man was drunk because he had been drinking in a bar in Hammelburg (Bad Kissingen district) before the accident on Saturday. As the police announced on Sunday, the officials ordered a blood test. Their results are still pending. The 70-year-old reportedly rode his e-bike without a helmet and fell through no fault of his own. The man sustained serious head injuries in the fall. An investigation was initiated against the 70-year-old on suspicion of drunk driving.
