Bavaria: Further evidence of wolves in eastern Bavaria

Tirschenreuth (dpa / lby) - There is another wolf record in Bavaria. According to previous knowledge, a wolf killed several sheep in the Upper Palatinate district of Tirschenreuth. As the State Environment Agency reported on Friday, three animals were killed on October 12th. Another sheep had to be killed due to its serious injuries.

A wolf expert examined the dead animals and took genetic samples. "The first results of the genetic analysis confirm a wolf as the cause," the authority reported. However, the investigation is not yet complete.

The state office points out that shepherds and farmers are compensated for the financial damage caused by wolf tears in a herd by the Free State of Bavaria. The office advises all livestock owners in the region to protect their animals from attacks with a special fence against wolves. Owners can sometimes be fully reimbursed for the costs involved.
