Bavaria: Goat rescued from the Autobahn in Lower Franconia

Eltmann (dpa / lby) - In Lower Franconia, a goat that was traveling on the shoulder of Autobahn 70 was rescued. The road had to be closed at short notice for the rescue operation, the police said on Friday.

The approximately four-month-old animal had previously been sighted again and again near a parking lot near Eltmann (Hassberge district). In order not to endanger animal welfare and traffic, the officials temporarily blocked the A70 on Friday.

The goat, named Mathilde by emergency services, was taken to a nearby animal shelter. Mathilde's owner could not initially be located, a police spokesman said on Friday. The animal was neither microchipped nor did it have ear tags.
