Munich (dpa / lby) - The Munich S-Bahn will be blocked next weekend by construction work on the main route. "From Friday, August 26 (10:30 p.m.) to Monday, August 29 (4:40 a.m.), no S-Bahn trains will run on the main route between Ostbahnhof and Hackerbrücke," said Deutsche Bahn on Monday. Reason: Between the main station and the Isartor, the rails would be renewed over a length of three and a half kilometers. In addition, work is being done on a new electronic signal box at Ostbahnhof.
As a replacement for the S-Bahn, buses are on the move between Ostbahnhof and Donnersbergerbrücke. The U5 and Tram 19 are on the move more frequently. "The S-Bahn recommends travelers to use the online timetable information before starting their journey. This contains all timetable changes and the travel times of the replacement buses."
