Kirchdorf an der Amper (dpa/lby) - Two men drowned in a pond in Upper Bavaria. The two men, aged 38 and 47, took part in a private celebration at a pond in Kirchdorf an der Amper (Freising district) on Saturday evening, the police said on Sunday.
According to previous knowledge, the 38-year-old went under shortly after he went swimming. Several people present tried to save him and also climbed into the pond. The 47-year-old also went under. While the 38-year-old was still being rescued and resuscitated by first responders, the 47-year-old could only be found by the alarmed emergency services at the bottom of the pond and brought ashore. Both men were flown to the hospital in a rescue helicopter, where they both died on Sunday night. It was not known how the two men drowned. However, it cannot currently be ruled out that they could not swim or were drunk.
