Nuremberg (dpa / lby) - 1. FC Nuremberg has respect for the start of the season in the 2nd Bundesliga at FC St. Pauli. "They have a lot of quality on the pitch and I also think that they made really good transfers up front," said coach Robert Klauss before the guest appearance on Saturday (1 p.m.) at the North Germans. "We want to fight back and of course we want to hurt them."
Assessing your own performance is difficult for the coach before the game starts. "It's always the case that you don't know exactly where you stand - sometimes not even after the first two match days," said Klauss, who praised the training in preparation but criticized the performance in the friendlies. "Of course, the first half against Arsenal (3-5) was good, but the game against Wattens (0-2) was not good. We also clearly addressed that."
The "Club" ended the past season in eighth place in the table after a weak final phase. Klauß does not want to formulate a goal for the season before the start of the season, but sees good prospects: "We have a stable foundation from last season, we know what we can do."
Around 1200 "Club" fans will support Nuremberg in Hamburg. Klauß has to do without the offensive players Lukas Schlemmer (torn ligament) and Pascal Köpke (rehabilitation training). The use of center forward Felix Lohkemper is questionable.
