Calvados: Melenchon and Borne engage at a distance in a duel

One in Caen and one in Vire. The leader of the Nupes Jean-Luc Melenchon, and the Prime Minister Elisabeth Borne, engage in a duel at a distant for Calvados on Wednesday, June 8, four days before the first round in the legislative elections.

The leader of Insoumis, who urged the French to make him head of government by giving a majority of New Popular, Ecologist and Social Union to Nupes, is heading to Caen for his last major meeting before the first Sunday round.

The First Secretary of the PS Olivier Faure will accompany him. His party represents in Caen-Est (the second in the department). Arthur Delaporte was invested by the Nupes, LFI, EELV and Generations. They will attempt to keep this socialist seat at the National Assembly.

Jean-Luc Melenchon will be able to support Noe Gauchard (22-year-old LFI candidate) in Calvados against Elisabeth Borne who holds Matignon's place.

After making strong comments towards the leader in the Insoumis, the head of government leaves Vire for a public meeting at the end the afternoon. This was in response to Saturday's Paris check that saw the death of a passenger in a car which had been hit by police fire.

Elisabeth Borne protested, "I find it shocking that he) constantly attacks the police with completely outrageous remarks."

The first results of the constituencies for French citizens living abroad have been published. However, most have decided to accelerate the campaign in the home phase before the first round. This is especially because the polls indicate that the absolute majority will not be acquired.

President Emmanuel Macron also plans to visit the Seine-St-Denis, which overwhelmingly supported Jean-Luc Melenchon in the first round. He must visit Clichy-sous-Bois to discuss the topic of access for young people to sport activities.
