As the police announced on Thursday, local residents alerted the fire brigade and police on Wednesday evening after hearing calls for help from the area of the harbor basin. Despite the search measures that were initiated immediately, the man could only be rescued lifeless from the river less than an hour later, it was said. Immediately initiated resuscitation attempts were unsuccessful.
According to the police, it is still unclear whether an accident or another cause is the cause. So far, there are no indications of third-party negligence. An autopsy will help clarify the circumstances of death.
