Hesse: Caught with more than ten kilograms of heroin – prison sentence

Frankfurt/Main (dpa/lhe) - A 36-year-old man has been sentenced to six years and ten months in prison by the Frankfurt Regional Court for attempting to smuggle 10.6 kilograms of heroin from Africa to Frankfurt. The drugs, which were to be transported further to Belgium, were hidden in the partitions of two suitcases, but were tracked down by drug dogs. Despite his confession, the prison sentence was significant - the court justified this on Wednesday with the large amount of heroin. The defense had advocated a maximum sentence of four years.
