Frankfurt / Main (dpa / lhe) - In the Frankfurt district of Heddernheim - a foolish stronghold in the Main metropolis - the restored statue of the great fool was handed over on Friday. The carnival symbol had been dismantled, repaired and cleaned a few weeks ago, as announced by the Frankfurt Transport Company (VGF). "It is the origin of the carnival. It was set up back then as a reminder of the original carnival," said Ulrich Fergenbauer, chairman of the "Klaa Paris" train community, on Friday about the original fool figure erected in 1989. "We are pleased that the local advisory board and the VGF have put this together," said Fergenbauer. Heddernheim is affectionately called "Klaa Paris" in Frankfurt

The statue had previously been posted above the carnival fountain at the Heddernheim underground station. The fountain was demolished after repeated vandalism. According to Fergenbauer, a water leak from the well was another reason for the demolition. In the future, the original fool will stand on a five-ton sandstone base that was delivered using a crane truck. A traditional carnival parade was planned for Friday evening, starting from the statue. The local advisory board bore the cost of repairing the figure, and VGF financed the demolition of the fountain.
