Hesse: Stojilkovic on Darmstadt change: "heart decision"

Darmstadt (dpa / lhe) - Soccer professional Filip Stojilkovic actually decided against a move to the Italian record champions Juventus Turin and for a commitment to the second division leaders SV Darmstadt 98. "There was something to it, but I would have been loaned out again first," confirmed the 23-year-old in a media round on Wednesday. "I think at my age it's important to have a club that has your back and doesn't always loan you out."

The move to Darmstadt was a "heart decision", said Stojilkovic, who wants to help his new team with his "aggressiveness and willingness to run". The attacker talks about promotion before the 19th matchday on Friday evening (6.30 p.m. / Sky) at SV Sandhausen, but neither does his teammates. "We're watching from game to game," said Stojilkovic, who cannot yet assess whether coach Torsten Lieberknecht will use him directly.

The Swiss was trained at TSG 1899 Hoffenheim, among others. He is pleased that the return to Germany worked out. "I think football here is more attractive than football in Switzerland, but it's a bit easier for a young player to get into the first team there," said Stojilkovic.
