Hesse: Students support Corona catch-up program at schools

Wiesbaden (dpa/lhe) - Students from the universities in Frankfurt and Darmstadt support Hessian schools in overcoming learning deficits caused by the pandemic. As supplementary workers, they should help children and young people with social or sporting needs, as the Ministry of Education announced on Monday in Wiesbaden. The aim is to gradually reduce the backlog of schoolchildren caused by the corona pandemic.

The projects supported by the universities include cross-year remedial courses in core subjects such as mathematics. There are also exercise offers or concepts for career orientation. The cooperation with the Goethe University Frankfurt and the Technical University Darmstadt runs within the framework of the Hessian funding program "Löwenstark - Der BildungsKICK". The program, which is designed to run for at least two years, started a year ago.
