Hesse: Subsidized solar systems: Darmstadt shows growth

Darmstadt (dpa/lhe) - In order to cover the energy demand from renewable energies, a massive expansion of solar energy is also needed at the municipal level. The city of Darmstadt therefore supports, among other things, the purchase of photovoltaic systems. "Interest in the funding program is strong and growing," said a spokesman for the southern Hessian city. A special feature is that so-called balcony modules or mini-PV systems are also funded.

There were recently 1,405 PV systems in the city area, including 1,168 on-roof and 237 mini-PV systems. "Compared to autumn 2021 at the start of the PV funding program, this is already an increase of 386 systems or 38 percent," explained the spokesman. 1173 of the systems are operated by private households, 232 systems are in business, clubs, city and state authorities in operation. Due to the great interest, the city recently decided to expand the program with higher funding rates.
