Maintal (dpa / lhe) - Unknown people blew up a ticket machine at the Maintal-West train station in the Main-Kinzig district. The police said on Thursday that around 10,000 euros had been damaged late on Wednesday evening. The perpetrator or perpetrators would have lit a pyrotechnic object in the output shaft. "According to initial findings, however, the criminals did not manage to get any money," the police said.
Because of a possible further risk of explosion, defusing specialists from the federal police were on duty. Track 2 in the direction of Hanau was closed for several hours. The investigators are now checking whether there is a connection with a similar case at the Hanau-Steinheim train station in mid-June.
