The Arasfec (Regional Association for Social and Family Assistance and Cultural Exchanges), is hosting three conference screenings in Chorges and Embrun in support of Ukraine. Youry Bilak will be present. The freelance reporter was born in France in 1961 to Ukrainian parents. He has had a unique career. After having worked as a dentist and dancer for a Ukrainian company in Canada, and in the United States, he toured Europe with the Jerome Savary's Cabaret troupe, where he is an actor, singer, and dancer. Later, he became a director for children's shows. He then turned to photography. He produces reports for several French television channels today.
As part of the screening-conferences, Youry Bilak will present his photographs: "He tells us about Ukraine before the war and that of today through the eyes of Ukrainian children", explains Jacques Achery, president of the association which has existed for 35 years and whose headquarters are in Gap. Arasfec, after three years of inactivity, is getting back on the road. It is mobilizing to transport a truck with medicines and food to Chernihiv (a city north-east of Kiev, the country's capital in July. Jacques Achery won't be joining the trip this time. Gapencais participated in humanitarian convoys to the east since the start of the conflict.
