Mason: Johnson faces day of judgment

Is Boris Johnson still a prime minister?

It is the only thing that matters.

Conservative MPs have two options to expel a prime minister who is sticking his nose in Downing Street furniture.

The first is a flood, with cabinet ministers filling it in one after the other.

It looked as though that exact thing was happening for about an hour last night.

It didn't.

The current count includes two biggies, many ministers and many tiddlers. Without question, it is extremely awkward to be a prime minister.

He has put together a new cabinet. This is the type of emergency reshuffle that no leader of a party wants to force upon them.

The leader of the other party is unquestionably losing support.

It seems like this might be happening right now.

We don't know how it will manifest itself or when.

Things are still very fluid right now.

There is no one in control of events. However, momentum can change very quickly.

Anyone who posts anything on social media that isn't definitive is just guessing.

They might be right. They're still guessing.

Boris Johnson is now facing what would be a difficult day in normal times.

The normal crew set sail from this spot many years ago.

At lunchtime, he will have Prime Minister's Questions. He will then be able to meet with the Liaison Committee which consists of select committee chairmen.

Or, "all his enemies in one room", as one of his teammates put it to me the other night.

He's gathering more information every hour, but that isn't the truth.
