As Scotland's first chief entrepreneur, a former executive at Skyscanner, an online travel company, has been named.

As part of the Scottish government's national strategy for economic transformation, Mark Logan will serve as a senior advisor to Mark Logan.

His role will be to build a network of support for scale-ups and start-ups in Scotland.

According to the Scottish government, the new role will "ensure that entrepreneurship is embedded within the economy."

Skyscanner's chief operating officer, Mr Logan, has been working as an advisor to the Scottish government in technology policy.

Kate Forbes, Economy Secretary, said that Mr Logan would be a "brilliant asset" for the Scottish government.

She said, "We've already tapped into his expertise in developing STER (Scottish Tech Ecosystem review) report and enhancing Scotland’s tech credentials.

"Now, we're ready to take it to the next level. We will ensure that entrepreneurial thinking and skillsets across all sectors of the public, private, and social enterprise industries are enshrined within the curriculum."

Logan's new role will involve supporting the work of Stewart Review on women in enterprise. Logan said that he is looking forward to supporting entrepreneurialism throughout the economy.

He said: "There are many creative, innovative businesses across Scotland. Part of the challenge ahead is to create the best environment for them to thrive."

"An even greater opportunity is to unlock the entrepreneurial potential of our citizens, and to ensure that all citizens have equal access to this opportunity."
