Güstrow (dpa/mv) - The environmental organization BUND Mecklenburg-Vorpommern has called for a speed limit on motorways in view of the energy crisis. In addition, the 25 BUND groups demanded that the maximum speed on country roads be reduced, according to a statement at the state general meeting on Saturday in Güstrow. They were convinced that a speed limit could save millions of liters of petrol and climate-damaging exhaust gases each year.
According to the information, the BUND wants to devote more attention to the protection of the moors in the coming year. The climate-damaging management of moors must be ended. In addition, at least 8,000 hectares of moors in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania would have to be rewetted every year.
