Kuehlungsborn (dpa/mv) - A drunk driver "chosen" a dangerous parking lot on rails in Kuehlungsborn - and was caught despite escaping. A stuck car was found on the track of the Molli train on Tuesday evening, a police spokesman said on Wednesday. It was open, empty, and the hazard lights were flashing. A train was coming but was able to brake in time. Witnesses gave the officers clues about the driver of the abandoned car in the gravel bed, who had run away.
Police found the 52-year-old driver at home. About an hour and a half after the incident, his breath alcohol level was measured at 2.47 per mil. The man had to give up his driver's license. The car was recovered by a tow truck, but remained undamaged, as did the track bed. "Fortunately, nothing worse happened with this alcohol level," said the police spokesman. The Molli runs regularly between Bad Doberan and Kuehlungsborn.
