Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania: Corona pandemic: FDP against "encroaching" protective measures

Schwerin (dpa/mv) - The FDP in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania has warned the red-red state government against excessive restrictions with a view to the number of corona infections that may increase significantly again towards autumn. "Politics should show more trust in people's personal responsibility, provide education and access to protective measures, but not interfere further in all areas of life," demanded FDP parliamentary group leader René Domke on Wednesday in Schwerin.

With the current Infection Protection Act, the federal and state governments have a sufficient toolbox to be able to react precisely to developments. "However, the hotspot rule may no longer be misused by red-red, as was the case with the previous rule," warned Domke. Consequently, the state government also received the receipt from the higher regional court. Domke called for a precise evaluation of the particularly restrictive regulations made in the past. Entry bans and the long closure of cultural institutions were controversial.

According to the State Chancellery, the state government wants to deal with the state's future corona strategy in June. It has already been decided that - unlike in the previous year - the state vaccination centers will not be completely closed in order to be able to react quickly if necessary. According to the Ministry of Social Affairs, the state is providing the districts and urban districts with up to 100,000 euros per month for financing.
