Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania: "Decisive No": Rostock commemorates pogrom night of 1938

Rostock (dpa/mv) - The Rostock citizenship president Regine Lück wants to strictly counteract anti-Semitic incidents. "The current situation, with the anti-Semitic incidents that keep happening over and over again, makes me personally stunned and concerned," said the left-wing politician on Thursday to commemorate the pogrom night in November 1938. "Our resolute no is required here. We must strictly oppose it everywhere ."

During the night of November 9th, 1938, violent measures against Jews in Germany and Austria were organized and directed by the National Socialist regime.

President of the Parliament Lück added: "And today - even 84 years later - we still have to remind ourselves that looking the other way is also a form of participation." Almost eight decades after the end of a devastating Second World War, anti-Semitism and racism are still growing and growing.
