Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania: dispute over relief: MV wants to share in the costs

Schwerin (dpa / mv) - In the debate about the implementation of the new relief to cushion high prices, the north-east has agreed to bear part of the costs. "Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania has been campaigning in recent weeks for further relief, for example energy money for pensioners. And we also stated at the time that we were prepared to make a contribution to co-financing," said the government spokesman Andreas Timm on Monday of the German Press Agency.

The coalition partner Die Linke had previously criticized the distribution of costs. While the federal government made 100 billion euros available for the Bundeswehr "virtually overnight", states and municipalities are now being asked to pay excessively in the energy crisis, criticized the two left-wing state chairmen Vanessa Müller and Peter Ritter.

According to the government spokesman, the next relief step should be a nationwide energy price cap. "That would once again significantly relieve the burden on citizens, but also on companies, and above all ensure more planning security," he said.
