Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania: Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania: Announcement of labor market figures

Schwerin (dpa/mv) - The regional directorate north of the Federal Employment Agency announced today (10 a.m.) the current labor market figures for Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. Experts assume that the number of unemployed fell further in May - both compared to the previous month and compared to May 2021. The reasons are the spring revival and the upturn in tourism.

At the end of April, the regional directorate had reported 56,900 unemployed in the north-east, which corresponded to a rate of 6.9 percent. Compared to April 2021, the number of unemployed fell by 10,900 and compared to March 2021 by 3,300. The labor market was even in better shape than before the corona pandemic: in April 2019, the unemployment rate was 7.1 percent.
