Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania: Police officer is bitten in the arm when deployed

Gorlosen (dpa/mv) - A disturber of the peace is said to have bitten an officer in the arm during a police operation in Gorlosen (Ludwigslust-Parchim). The case happened on Sunday morning, a police spokeswoman said on Monday. Neighbors had called the officers because they heard loud music and noise and saw the 33-year-old tenant destroying his scooter with a baseball bat. The police officers had pointed out to the man that such noise was not permitted. The 33-year-old initially reacted calmly and explained that he was "in a mental state of emergency because of drug withdrawal."

Officers took the man to an ambulance. There he bit an officer who wanted to hold him. The police officer was able to remain on duty. The 33-year-old was handcuffed and taken to a clinic. He faces charges of assault and resisting law enforcement officials.
