Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania: There was no rush to the Baltic Sea coast on Saturday

Schwerin (dpa/mv) - The number of bathers at the start of the summer holiday season on the Baltic Sea was initially limited on Saturday, despite hot temperatures and blue skies. At the start of the summer holidays in North Rhine-Westphalia, Deutsche Bahn spoke of "brisk travel to the holiday areas", but there was not much to see on the coasts. The police also reported no increased traffic on the roads in the country.

The reason for the reluctance of bathers could be the storm warnings from the German Weather Service (DWD), which warned of extreme storms in all districts of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania in the afternoon. Up to 70 liters of rain per square meter could fall from the sky in some places, plus wind gusts of 60 kilometers per hour and hail.
