Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania: Trial of triple murder in Rövershagen continues

Rostock (dpa/mv) - The district court of Rostock is continuing the trial against a 27-year-old man who is said to have murdered his parents and sister in Rövershagen in February last year. Since the opening of the hearing on November 15, the accused has remained silent in court.

Numerous witnesses have already been heard, including close relatives of the victims. During the police interrogations, the 27-year-old had confessed to the crimes extensively. At the start of the trial, however, he had his lawyer withdraw all previous statements.

On the previous day of the trial, a police officer had reported from the interrogations that the accused had stated very calmly after his arrest that he had killed his father, mother and sister.

According to the indictment, he is said to have brutally murdered his father (52) and sister (25) and a few days later his mother (48) on February 7, 2022 with a crossbow and a garden machete. If found guilty, he faces a life sentence.
