Essen (dpa / lnw) - A 22-year-old suffered life-threatening injuries in a roof fire in Essen. The young man was rescued via a turntable ladder on Saturday from an attic apartment in an apartment building and taken to a special clinic with severe burn injuries, the fire brigade said. The other residents of the house and the neighboring houses had previously been able to escape unharmed.
Because of the freezing temperatures, the Ruhrbahn made a bus available for the residents for the duration of the operation. In the meantime, the fire brigade had considerable difficulties because the extinguishing water at the scene of the fire froze and the ground was as smooth as glass. A gritter from the Essen waste disposal company eliminated the danger spots.
