North Rhine-Westphalia: 83-year-old for attempted murder of his wife in custody

Cologne (dpa / lnw) - The Cologne police are investigating an 83-year-old man for attempting to murder his wife. The senior is said to have suddenly attacked the 82-year-old from behind in the shared apartment on Friday and choked, among other things, the police and prosecutors said. Neighbors had heard calls for help in the morning and alerted the police. The woman suffered injuries to her neck and was taken to a hospital, which she was able to leave after outpatient treatment. A judge ordered the man into custody. The background to the fact is still unclear.
