North Rhine-Westphalia: ADAC: There is a risk of even more traffic jams on the second holiday weekend

Düsseldorf (dpa / lnw) - On the second weekend after the start of the holidays, the ADAC expects even more traffic jams and slow traffic on the motorways in North Rhine-Westphalia. It should be particularly crowded on Friday afternoon, Saturday morning and Sunday afternoon, as the automobile club announced on Tuesday. While NRW is already rolling into the second holiday wave, the summer holidays also begin in Schleswig-Holstein and Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania on the first weekend in July.

The highest potential for congestion at the weekend is therefore on the routes towards the North and Baltic Sea coasts and on the way to the south. Drivers would have to be patient, especially in the greater Cologne area and in the entire Ruhr area. “All in all, this travel summer should be as congested as before the corona pandemic,” predicts the ADAC.

The truck holiday driving ban could bring some relief for holidaymakers: It will come into force next weekend and will apply every Saturday from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. until the end of August.
