The fire brigade was able to free the man from Xanten, seriously injured, from the wreck and take him to a hospital.
The force of the impact ripped off the passenger side of the vehicle, as well as the engine block. The car stopped a hundred yards from the tree. The scene of the accident was a debris field. A total of 25 rescue workers were deployed.
