North Rhine-Westphalia: Corona incidence in NRW falls towards the 300 mark

Düsseldorf (dpa / lnw) - The corona incidence in North Rhine-Westphalia has continued to decrease slightly. On Wednesday morning, the Robert Koch Institute (RKI) reported 305.4 new infections per 100,000 inhabitants within seven days for NRW. A week ago it was 357.1, four weeks ago (3rd August) it was 440.4.

However, the information only provides a very incomplete picture of the number of infections. Experts have been assuming for some time that there will be a large number of cases not recorded by the RKI - mainly because not all infected people have a PCR test done. Only positive PCR tests count in the statistics. In addition, late registrations or transmission problems can lead to a distortion of individual daily values.

According to the RKI information from Wednesday, there were 14,203 new confirmed corona infections in NRW within one day. That period added 21 virus-related deaths.
