North Rhine-Westphalia: fatal stabs on the couch: nine and a half years in prison

After a night of drinking, a 22-year-old man stabbed an acquaintance who was lying on the sofa and talking on the phone. The court convicted the man of manslaughter.

Dortmund (dpa / lnw) - Seven months after a fatal knife attack in a Dortmund apartment, the Dortmund jury sentenced a 22-year-old German to nine and a half years in prison for manslaughter. The defendant confessed to the crime at trial. The victim is a 21-year-old friend who was lying on the couch and talking on the phone. In the hours before, the two men had drunk a lot of alcohol and taken drugs together with the accused's girlfriend, who was also present.

In addition to the prison sentence, the court on Tuesday ordered the 22-year-old to be placed in a closed drug clinic. After serving part of his sentence in prison, he will receive treatment there for around two years before he can be released on parole. Numerous friends and acquaintances of the victim acknowledged the verdict, which they felt was too mild, with expressions of displeasure.
