North Rhine-Westphalia: Fire in the Cologne hospital: 54 patients evacuated

Cologne (dpa / lnw) - In the Sülz district of Cologne, several laundry containers burned on the ground floor of the Evangelical Hospital. As the fire brigade announced, the hospital staff had to evacuate 54 patients on Tuesday night because smoke spread through ventilation shafts and tilted windows on seven floors of the twelve-story building. Nobody got hurt. The fire brigade, alerted by the hospital's automatic alarm system, was able to quickly extinguish the fire and then ventilated the affected floors. The patients were later returned to the hospital. The police could not give any information about the cause of the fire.
