North Rhine-Westphalia: goods motor ship crashes into the Dortmund-Ems Canal bridge

Duisburg/Rheine (dpa/lnw) - The wheelhouse of a goods motor ship crashed into a bridge on the Dortmund-Ems Canal near Rheine. A 28-year-old, who was the skipper at the time of the accident on Tuesday afternoon, was slightly injured. He was able to leave the hospital after outpatient treatment, the police said on Wednesday. There was "considerable damage" to the ship. The motor vessel was initially unable to continue the voyage.
