Blankenheim/Zülpich (dpa/lnw) - When pursuing a fleeing vehicle in Zülpich near Euskirchen, a police car was rammed by an 18-year-old's car in a roundabout. According to the police, a 25-year-old police officer and the young woman were slightly injured. The 18-year-old drove into the roundabout and hit the rear of the police car, which was pursuing a vehicle with two young men. The two women received outpatient medical care.

The chase through several towns began in Euskirchen when the police wanted to check two men in their vehicle. The hunt finally ended on the A1 in the direction of Trier at the Blankenheim junction, where the police had laid out nail barriers. The 18-year-old driver was known to the police without a valid driver's license and, like his 19-year-old passenger. The driver claimed to have taken narcotics; a blood sample was taken from him.

The getaway vehicle had two different license plates, one was from a previously reported stolen car. Police also found a gym bag containing drugs and cash. Criminal charges have been filed against the duo.
