North Rhine-Westphalia: throwing attacks on cars in road tunnels in Gelsenkirchen

Gelsenkirchen (dpa / lnw) - Objects are said to have been thrown at two cars in an inner-city road tunnel in Gelsenkirchen. After a paving slab smashed into the windshield of a car early Tuesday morning, another car was hit by a rock on Tuesday evening, a police spokesman said on Wednesday.

Several media reported on the incidents at the exit of the road tunnel in Gelsenkirchen's Buer district. The police are investigating in all directions and are also checking whether there could be a connection between the incidents, the spokesman said. The police assume that these are litters.

After the incident with the sidewalk slab, the police announced that they were investigating attempted manslaughter and that a homicide squad had been set up. The windshield of the car was smashed in parts. The physically unharmed driver stopped immediately and informed the police about the emergency call. The tunnel was closed for hours on Tuesday morning due to the investigation. The police are looking for witnesses.
