Parisian burglars found after fleeing on electric scooter

Faster than walking, avoiding the risk of traffic jams... Thieves, in turn, seem to be seduced by the electric scooter. Two minors were arrested at the end of May after having robbed watches and jewelry for thousands of euros in a Parisian apartment. They had fled on an electric scooter.

On May 16, two young people aged 16 and 17 climbed the facade of a building in the 18th arrondissement of Paris, entered an apartment and came out with a chest containing 250,000 euros worth of watches and jewelry.

The judicial police are seized of the case. Investigators realize, thanks to CCTV footage, that the burglars fled on an electric scooter. "The means of escape is unusual (...). They went directly home", underlines the police source.

With the help of the anti-crime brigade (BAC) of the 18th, the investigators identify the two minors, known to the police for thefts. They were arrested on May 28.

During the searches, the police found clothes similar to those that had been spotted upstream on the video surveillance. The jewelry and watches were not found.

The two men were referred to the Paris prosecutor's office and the oldest, known for 20 acts by the police, was imprisoned. Another burglary in the 18th arrondissement, dating back to April 11 - for damages of 100,000 euros - could also be attributed to them. The two minors admitted the facts while in police custody.
