Halle (dpa/sa) - In Saxony-Anhalt, fewer joint parental custody declarations were made last year. Accordingly, in 2021, 6,768 such declarations of joint parental care were submitted to the youth welfare offices. In addition, 167 declarations were replaced by a decision by the family court and transferred to both parents, as the State Statistical Office in Halle announced on Friday. Compared to 2020, the number of declarations fell by 1.8 percent. If parents are not married to each other when their child is born, they can have the youth welfare office certify that they want to exercise parental care for their child together.
In addition, there were 1,696 official guardianships for minors at the youth welfare offices at the end of last year, as it was also said.
