Saxony-Anhalt: owner of the Karow manor: price for monument protection

Jerichow (dpa/sa) - The owners of the Karow manor in Jerichower Land receive the German Prize for Monument Protection. On Monday, the German National Committee for Monument Protection announced the twelve winners for 2022. The "Silver Hemisphere" is the highest award in this area and honors voluntary commitment to the preservation of monuments in Germany.

The award recognizes the "great time and financial commitment to the preservation of the Karow manor and the baroque village church" by Birgit and Heinrich Baumgärtel, according to the national committee. The manor house, built at the beginning of the 18th century, would have been in a desolate condition when it was taken over. After more than 10 years of construction work, large parts of the manor have been repaired and put back into use, according to the declaration of the national committee. The prize has no endowment and is awarded in November.
