The 58-year-old business graduate has been a professor of business administration with a focus on production and logistics management since 1994.

"Our goal is to make our - also international - competitiveness in the areas of research, teaching and transfer even more visible and we need appropriate financial resources for this in the future," explained Roland.

The term of office as President of the State Rectors' Conference is two years, beginning on November 1st. Roland's deputies are Claudia Becker, Rector of the Martin Luther University in Halle-Wittenberg, and Jens Strackeljan, Rector of the Otto von Guericke University in Magdeburg.
