Saxony-Anhalt: Wagon building in Dessau-Roßlau before the end

Dessau-Roßlau (dpa/sa) - Production in the traditional wagon construction plant in Dessau-Roßlau is about to end. The talks with investors were ultimately unsuccessful, explained insolvency administrator Susanne Berner on Wednesday. Now the site of the insolvent Molinari Rail GmbH is to be liquidated. First, the Mitteldeutscher Rundfunk had reported.

"In fact, there were initially two concrete offers from two strategic investors," said Berner. Unfortunately, one investor surprisingly withdrew his offer during the investor process. Now the other remaining offer has not come to a conclusion either. The insolvency administration now sees itself forced to discontinue business operations at short notice and to initiate the shutdown. According to Berner, the potential investors would not have seen any possibility of using the 100,000 square meter premises with five large halls accordingly.

According to the information, around 75 of the 100 employees remain. Most of them are expected to receive their redundancies by the end of March 2023. Only a team of up to 20 employees will continue to work at the site for a limited period of time in order to process the remaining orders and to do final processing work.

Most recently, Molinari mainly produced car bodies and components for the railway industry and repaired rail vehicles. The site can look back on more than a hundred years of wagon building history.
