Saxony: Barbecues, campfires and fireworks are allowed again in Dresden

Dresden (dpa/sn) - A ban on fireworks, campfires and public barbecues imposed by the city of Dresden in early August will end on Friday. The city announced on Wednesday that the blocking of the forest would also be lifted. The forest fire situation has eased after the rainfall of the past few weeks.

With the ban, the city wanted to prevent fires from breaking out due to the drought at the time and the associated high risk of fire from flying sparks. Large deployments of the fire brigade should be avoided.

The barbecue areas and campfire sites could be used again, it said. However, a permit from the Environment Agency is required for campfires. A special permit is required for lighting small fireworks outside of New Year's Eve.
