Saxony: Ministry of Social Affairs helps Tafeln with 15,000 euros in the short term

Dresden (dpa / sn) - The Saxon Ministry of Social Affairs supports the panels for the needy with 15,000 euros in the short term in order to mitigate their high energy and petrol costs. On Friday in Dresden, State Secretary Sebastian Vogel handed over a corresponding notification of funding to the board of the Landesverband Tafel Sachsen, which represents the interests of almost all Tafel projects in Saxony. In order to maintain the offers of help, the support is necessary, emphasized Vogel. "The panels are primarily financed by donations and most of the staff work on a voluntary basis."

According to the Ministry of Social Affairs, 44 Tafelvereine and the Landesverband Tafel Sachsen are involved in caring for poor people. Around 200 stationary and mobile distribution points are operated throughout Saxony. Saxony supports the Tafel with 400,000 euros. The individual clubs can apply for investment funds of up to EUR 30,000.
