'Should have listened to her': Adele warned Jennifer Lawrence about film role

When Jennifer Lawrence was offered a leading role alongside Chris Pratt in the science fiction film "Passengers" in 2016, singer Adele advised her against it. The actress ignored her friend's advice - and now regrets it.

Many actresses and actors can name at least one film that they would no longer do today. Jennifer Lawrence is no exception. The 32-year-old now reveals to the "New York Times" that she has already taken one or the other wrong career path.

Accordingly, after the "Hunger Games" film series, she had the feeling that her fans were not always satisfied with her career choice. "I was like, 'Oh no, you're here because I'm here and I'm here because you're here. Wait, who decided this was a good movie?'" she recalls. When asked which movie made her feel that way, she replies, "Passengers, I guess."

She was even warned by her friend, singer Adele, before she accepted the lead role alongside Chris Pratt. "Adele told me not to do it! She said, 'I feel like space movies are the new vampire movies.' I should have listened to her," Lawrence said. The 2016 sci-fi film, in which the two Hollywood stars set off in a spaceship to an alien colony, had grossed more than $300 million worldwide, but fell far short of expectations.

As a reason for her professional derailment, the young mother says that she was literally "ambushed" by her former agents at the Creative Artists Agency (CAA) when it came to the roles she ultimately accepted. "I found that a lot of the scripts by filmmakers that I love and admire didn't even reach me," she explains. In 2018 she turned her back on the CAA.
