Thuringia: Craft hopes for a rescue package worth millions

Erfurt (dpa / th) - The North and Central Thuringian trade has commented positively on the CDU parliamentary group's proposal for a multi-million dollar rescue package for the economy. "Finally there is a constructive solution on the table, on the basis of which Parliament can decide," said Thomas Malcherek, general manager of the Erfurt Chamber of Crafts, on Wednesday in Erfurt. According to the CDU, the rescue package should amount to 400 million euros.

The rescue package is primarily intended for small and medium-sized companies, Malcherek continued. It can cushion the energy prices quickly and provide immediate help where business owners have been worried about their livelihood and their employees for months. "We also advocate that the aid should be paid out in the form of a real surcharge - and not on a credit basis." In the current situation, additional loans would continue to burden many craftsmen and would usually be rejected.

The rescue package is to be voted on in the Thuringian state parliament on Friday (October 14).
