Thuringia: Gas consumption in Thuringia increased slightly in 2021

Erfurt (dpa/th) - Private households and companies in Thuringia consumed around 22 billion kilowatt hours of gas last year. Gas consumption in the federal state rose slightly by 0.4 percent compared to the previous year, as the Thuringian State Office for Statistics announced on Tuesday. At that time, consumption was around 21.9 billion kilowatt hours.

Household customers bought around 40 percent of the gas in 2021. Around 23 percent was supplied to electricity and heat suppliers and around 24 percent to the manufacturing industry.

The average revenues of the gas supply companies increased significantly in 2021. According to the office, they earned an average of around 4.39 cents per kilowatt hour. That is 23.3 percent more than in 2020. In total, they generated around 966.4 million euros last year.
