Thuringia: Ministry: The situation in the kindergartens is tense

Erfurt (dpa/th) - According to the Thuringian Ministry of Education, the staffing situation in many kindergartens in the Free State is tense due to illness. "We cannot understand it statistically, but we know that the situation is tense. There are currently a lot of staff shortages," said a spokesman for the Ministry of Education on Tuesday in Erfurt. The “Thüringer Allgemeine” had previously reported on the threat of daycare closures.

According to the spokesman, there are no closures due to the Infection Protection Act. "If there are closures, they would be operational," he said. Various organizations are responsible for operating kindergartens in Thuringia - including many municipalities.

According to the Ministry of Education, the minimum personnel key continues to apply - i.e. the regulation of how many children a kindergarten teacher can take care of. However, the carriers could react by merging groups, since many children are also ill and are not in daycare care.
