EU compensation: Germany to receive billions of aid to refugees

According to a report, the EU is considering compensatory payments for countries that have received particularly large numbers of refugees. There should be 4.5 billion euros for Germany.

In coming EU budgetary period, Germany could receive about 4.5 billion euros to compensate for refugee situation. For every non-EU citizen who has come to Germany since 2013, 2,800 euros will be paid, Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung reports and refers to EU circles.

Later this February, Chancellor Angela Merkel (CDU) had failed to punish EU member States for ir uncooperative stance in refugee crisis by cutting EU's funding structure. However, or heads of State and Government had fought against it. For idea of at least rewarding highly demanded states, one is now obviously receptive.

According to newspaper, it should also be calculated who has left country since 2013. According to Eurostat, this net migration amounted to around 1.7 million people by 2017. Almost half of m came to Germany in 2015. The money is part of Structural Funds with which EU supports economically weak regions.
