Transport How to travel for free by bus thanks to transport aid: routes and requirements

From the first day of 2023, intercity buses in Spain are also free.

This aid is applied to companies that operate this type of state-owned bus routes throughout Spain and that have season tickets and multi-trip tickets before entry.

In 2022 this transport service had a discount for frequent users of 50% of their subscriptions from the month of September to the month of December.

Thus, for example, recurring users of lines such as those linking Madrid and Segovia, Guadalajara and Madrid, Teruel and Barcelona, ​​Zaragoza and Castellón de la Plana, Jaén and Madrid, Gijón and León, Irún and Tui or Logroño and Soria, in 2023 can purchase season tickets or tickets for 10, 20 or 30 trips to travel with a 100% discount.

According to data from the Ministry of Transport, Mobility and Urban Agenda, the network of this transport service has a total of 4,088 stops that are distributed among 2,399 towns belonging to 1,837 municipalities of the national geography. The total length of lines is 68,861 kilometers, with an average of 894.3 kilometers per concession.
